Hi everyone! My name is Hailey and I am a substitute teacher at Mighty Kids Virtual Academy. I grew up in southeastern Oklahoma before moving to Tyler, Texas for college. I completed an undergraduate degree in English with a focus on professional writing and worked as a tutor at the university’s writing center. My writing center work led to some incredible opportunities like presenting at national conferences and working alongside professors on publications. I now work as a full-time freelance writer/copyeditor in the education and medical spaces.

I have lived in Austin, Texas, for four years and currently reside with my two best friends and their wonderful twin sons. We spend most evenings on our back porch playing board games or entertaining our very goofy golden retriever, Jasper! The five of us are currently prepping for our next great adventure–a cross-country move to North Carolina. I am so excited to explore the East Coast and experience a different part of the country after spending most of my life in the south.

In my spare time, I love to learn. I am working steadily toward a 50-book reading goal this year and always looking for titles to add to the list. I love sharing my ever-growing houseplant collection and spend my weekends perusing whatever estate sales or thrift stores I come across. I am so excited to be working with the amazing children at Mighty Kids and look forward to getting to know all of you in the future!
